Inflammation Reduction: bruised areas were not taped

“Something better than any laser, wrap, or electric massager…The Tape. It is a special hot-pink athletic tape that came from Japan… the pain disappeared–it was gone.”

-Lance Armstrong, “Every Second Counts”

I took the Level 1 and Level 2 Kinesiotaping Certification Courses this past weekend and truly recognized the true potential of Kinesiotape ®.  This tape does much more than enhance muscular firing for athletes; it can be used for the following reasons:

  • Pain reduction
  • Swelling reduction
  • Lymphatic drainage
  • Muscle facilitation
  • Muscle inhibition
  • Neurological re-education
  • Fascial restrictions

Kinesiotape ®, when applied correctly, can benefit most conditions.  Whether someone has poor posture that needs to be addressed with muscular facilitation, a disc herniation that is causing incredible pain, a swollen area that needs edema reduction, an overactive muscle that requires inhibition, or poorly functioning muscles due to a stroke, Kinesiotape ® could prove valuable.  In the near future, I will be diving into the details as to how this effective tape and its clinically focused application actually work.  During the Olympics I wrote another blog on the tape, check it out to start learning more.

Stay tuned for more on Kinesiotaping ® strategies.  In the meantime, stay healthy to keep enjoying the activities you love!
